Are all the vehicles open top?
No - A few of our vehicles are standard and used for the high desert tours. One van has an all weather acrylic see-through top and the rest all have convertible tops than can be opened and closed according to the comfort of our guests. How long are the tours? We offer a few Half-day tours that are four hours in duration. Full-day tours run longer, from six to ten hours, with lots of rest breaks and photo ops. What will I need? Suggest real camera and a pair of binoculars. Our Safari Tours will be open-top most of the time and wearing sunscreen is a good idea and so is bringing a hat and sunglasses. What should I wear? Most of our tours require very little walking. Suggest the usual comfortable layered clothes with sneakers or light boots, light jacket, hat and sunglasses. Our staff can help you with any questions regarding clothing needs so feel free to contact us. Do we need to make a reservation in advance?
It's not required . . . but we do suggest making advance reservations . . . especially for the Safari Tours in the peak season (June-September). Do you have regular scheduled tour times? No - We are a smaller tour company . . . providing more personalized service and we do not have standard scheduled tours. For last minute reservations, it is best to call to check ASAP. 605.644.6736 Is there a minimum or maximum number for a tour? We require a minimum of two adult fares in order to provide a tour. We ask that group travelers contact us prior to their visit in order to guarantee their needs. For single travelers, if we have seating available we will make every effort to include you in an existing tour. What is your cancellation policy? 100% refund with 24 hour notice. NO refund day of tour. You may reschedule any tour without penalty fees. Where does the tour originate? We pickup/return you to most* hotels in the Hills for free. We also offer free airport pick-up or drop-off for any of the Badlands Tours. *Additional charge for remote locations. How many people do your vehicles hold? Our Jeeps hold 3-7 guests, our full sized vans hold 9-14 and the minivan seats 6 (or 4 with a wheelchair). (Larger vehicles are available on request.) What happens if it rains? Our convertible top tours operate rain or shine. The Black Hills has a lot of micro climates so most rainfall is short-lived. If the weather conditions are severe causing the roads to be unsafe, we would offer to switch your tour, reschedule or give you a refund. We offer Safari Tours in our all weather . . . see through lexan-top vehicle, the "Safari Van" and also our "Buff Jeep" a Wrangler enhanced to seat seven passengers and has a see through convertible top. Inclement weather will not impede us or ruin your sightseeing pleasure. |
Will there be a stop for lunch?
Yes - Tours of 6 hours or more include a picnic lunch . . . either beside an alpine lake, a canyon waterfall or picturesque point in one of the National Parks. Should we bring our own water and food? All tours include: fees, bottled water and light snacks. However, you may bring along anything you like. We ask for drink containers to have a resealable top. Why do you suggest removing contact lenses? Some of the tours can be dusty so we recommend switching to eyeglasses for your personal comfort and also suggest you bring along sunglasses. Will there be other people on the tour with us? Our Safari Tours often sell out. Most likely there will be other people on this tour . . . which has a maximum capacity of 8 guests . . . and most vehicles have individual reclining seats. Are there restrooms on the tours? There are many restrooms along the way of the tours. We will keep you pre-informed of the services available during each tour. Can I get a private tour? Private tours are available for an additional fee. Please call for more information 605-644-6736. What is the weather like in the Black Hills? The Black Hills are 60 miles wide, 125 miles long with varying heights from 3,200 ft. to 7,200 ft. In the summer, short afternoon thunder showers can occur. What is the weather like at Badlands National Park? The Badlands and Devil's Tower National Parks are both hot in the summer and cold in the winter. However we offer comfortable vehicles for both tours. Our Standard National Parks tours use regular vans with AC and heat and our Badlands Private Tour uses a convertible top with AC. Please check the weather forecast for the date of your tour. Is it legal to consume beer or wine during a tour? Yes - All our vehicles are licensed and are allowed open containers (must be 21 or over). Is it customary to tip the guide? It is customary to tip your guide, however that is up to you. The amount should depend on how much of your days adventure was FUN! The customary amount is $10-$20 per person for full day tours. Prices listed do not include tax (6%) or gratuity.
